Dr. Mezghani is an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University (PMU). He holds a BS, MS, and PhD from the University of Tennessee, USA. With over 26 years of experience in teaching and research, Dr. Mezghani has made significant contributions to his field. He has been involved in numerous externally funded projects sponsored by prominent organizations like KACST, NSTP, SABIC, and ARAMCO. Dr. Mezghani's research spans various domains, including polymers, composites, and ion transport membranes (ITM). His primary research interests focus on the structure development and properties of materials. Throughout his career, he has established three major laboratories: Materials Science Lab, Polymer Processing and Characterization Lab, and Ion Transport Membranes Lab. Additionally, he has fostered collaborative research with MIT University, particularly in the area of ITM for clean energy applications. One of his notable achievements is the demonstration of ITM's potential in hydrogen production through water splitting. He has also made advancements in developing Carbon Molecular Sieve Membranes and Polymeric Membranes for gas separation. Moreover, Dr. Mezghani designed and manufactured a specialized reactor for producing aligned carbon nanotubes (CNT). Dr. Mezghani has a strong publication record, with over 65 papers in refereed journals and conferences, along with several US patents. He has contributed to two review chapters in the Physical Properties of Polymers Handbook and the Polymeric Materials Encyclopedia. His work has been presented at numerous conferences and seminars, particularly on the morphology and structure-property relationships of materials. In addition to his research, Dr. Mezghani has developed and taught various graduate and undergraduate courses related to materials and processing. His dedication to teaching earned him the Best Teaching Award in 2010.
