    Lecturer & Lab Coordinator

  • College :

    College of Engineering

  • Department :

    Electrical Engineering

Mr. Ahmed is a Lecturer in the department of Electrical Engineering at PMU. He earned his MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Florida, Gainesville, in the year 1998.
He has worked for Motorola as an Embedded Software Engineer from Jan. 1998 to June 2000. He worked on the software development of several key features of Motorola's Professional series of Two-Way radios such as Voice Storage Answer Mode, LED and Display Manager Services, and Request to Talk feature. The portable and mobile units of this radio are currently in use around the world. He also served as a Software Configuration Manager and Web Master.

Mr. Ahmed has experience in EE program assessment and evaluation for accreditation purpose. He contributed significantly to Prince Mohammad University (PMU) EE department’s efforts to achieve ABET Accreditation for the first time (August 2016 – August 2022)., prepared Self-Study Report for ABET, and helped develop the Continuous Improvement Process for the PMU EE department. He has also developed a number of assessment tools, rubrics, KPIs, and surveys for both direct and indirect assessment.

Mr. Ahmed has more than 20 years of university teaching experience, teaching undergraduate courses and labs in Electrical Engineering. He has previously worked as a Lecturer in the EE department at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals. Besides teaching a number of undergraduate courses and labs, he was actively involved in proposing and supervising Capstone Design projects.

He has also worked on a number of research projects. He participated in the development of the Smartcard Lab at KFUPM and the subsequent implementation of a Smartcard System throughout the university. He has also worked on a RFID project for identification of Haj Pilgrims besides a number of projects funded by KFUPM and KACST. His work in these projects involved design, implementation and testing of prototype systems, development of GUIs, hardware interfacing, programming (both low level and high level), and simulations
Mr. Ahmed also has over 5 years of experience in the design and development of Web-based courses and delivery using fully-online and blended modes. He has developed several Electrical Engineering courses for e-Learning.

MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida USA, May 1998.
