Dr Ahmad Baroutaji is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at PMU, KSA.
He holds a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Aleppo in Syria (2004), a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Dublin City University in Ireland (2014), and a PgCert in Teaching in Higher Education from Cork Institute of Technology in Ireland (2017).
Dr Ahmad has extensive academic experience as an educator, researcher, external examiner, and director of UG and PG academic programs. As a teacher, he aims to create an inclusive and effective learning environment that fosters students’ academic performance. His teaching interests are structural and solid mechanics, machine design, computational mechanics tools (FEA, CAD), manufacturing technologies, and material science.
Dr Ahmad is an internationally recognised researcher and has been listed among the top 2% of scientists in the world. His research interests cover engineering design, material science, and additive manufacturing. He made significant contributions to the fields of laser powder bed fusion, crashworthiness, biomaterials, and hydrogen technologies. Dr Ahmad has published more than 60 papers and 40 chapters in refereed journals and book series. Currently, his research focuses on additive manufacturing of advanced materials and structures for a range of applications, from biomedical to energy technologies.
Dr Ahmad is keen to prepare global engineers who can solve emerging engineering problems not only in KSA and the surrounding region but also on a global scale.
