Shams is an accomplished assistant professor in the Architecture and Design Department at Prince Mohammed Bin Fahd University (PMU), with a strong dedication to academic excellence and research. Passionate about education, she has contributed significantly to the academic community by guiding students and engaging in meaningful scholarly work.

She holds a PhD in Sustainable Architecture from the University of Western Australia, where her research explored lessons from vernacular architecture and their application to sustainable contemporary Saudi homes. She earned her master's degree in Housing from King Faisal University (KFU), focusing on the adaptation of Saudi residents to high-rise apartment living, a relatively new concept in Saudi culture. She also holds a bachelor's degree in Interior Architecture from KFU, where she graduated with honors.

Shams has actively participated in international conferences in Australia and Saudi Arabia, contributing to discussions on sustainable architecture and housing. As a member of the Saudi Council of Engineers, she continues to engage in research and academic initiatives that promote sustainability and innovation in the built environment.
