Mónica Ardila Vanegas is a PhD candidate in the Humanities and Communication program at UIC Barcelona. She specializes in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language (ELE). Ardila Vanegas’s work focuses on the didactics of Spanish for beginner levels, with particular interest in the use of music and popular song as pedagogical tools to enhance linguistic competence. Her experience includes A1 -A2 - B1 level Spanish teaching, contributing to the development of innovative curricular materials that facilitate language acquisition. In teaching, Ardila Vanegas emphasizes a communicative and dynamic approach and aims to help students develop listening comprehension and oral expression skills from the earliest stages. She integrates authentic cultural content to connect theory with practice. Currently, Ardila Vanegas is engaged in developing her doctoral thesis on the effectiveness of music in ELE and is interested in advancing research on active methodologies and the internationalization of language education.
