Dr. Massimiliano Gotti Porcinari is an Italian architect, working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Architecture, College of Architecture and Design at PMU, KSA. He received his Master degree in Architecture in 2004, and his Ph.D. in Architecture: Theories and Project in 2012, from Sapienza University of Rome, Italy.
He taught for several years Architectural Design Studio and Theory of Architecture at Sapienza University of Rome and Politecnico of Milan in Italy and at BAU Beirut Arab University in Lebanon. As Design Leader at LAB71 architetti, he developed concepts and design projects for the main brands of FCA group: Alfa Romeo, Jeep, Fiat, Lancia. In 2021 he designed the new exhibition space of CASA 500, the museum of Fiat 500, at Agnelli Art Gallery in Turin, Italy.
His academic research and professional works have always been focused on architectural spaces at different scales and their potentialities in conveying messages and defining user experience. In the last years he focused his interests on vernacular architecture and participatory design, and their implications for a social, economic and environmental sustainability in combination with digital fabrication processes and BIM design method.
He thinks that Architecture is a combination of real situations and visionary concepts. Design should combine knowledge and research and find answers to the real needs of contemporary society, anticipating its future exigences. His goal is forming a new generation of architects, with strong roots in the past, accurate knowledge of the present and actively projected on the future.
