Dr Masud currently serves as Chair of the Law Department at PMU, and has previously undertaken leading roles in key academic areas, particularly academic integrity, progress coaching, and student mobility. In these earlier roles, he contributed to policy development, supported ethical academic practices, supported students progress, and assisted with initiatives aimed at enhancing student mobility and international engagement.

Dr Mahmoud Masud is a legal academic with expertise across both the private and public sectors, and is fluent in English and Arabic. He teaches and has led undergraduate and postgraduate modules in both private and public law. His teaching portfolio includes Public International Law, Human Rights and Civil Liberties, Equity and Trusts, Legal Methods, Criminal Law, Land Law, and Business Law, and he has supervised dissertations. His research focuses on the intersection of Islamic law and international human rights law, with particular attention to minority protection, women’s rights, criminal law reform, and the regulation of hate expression. His work adopts comparative and interdisciplinary approaches and is directed at addressing contemporary legal and societal challenges. He currently teaches a range of courses delivered in both Arabic and English, including Saudi Constitutional Law, Criminal Procedure, General Criminal Law, Intellectual Property Law, Alternative Dispute Resolution, and Legal Writing and Research. His teaching approach emphasises clarity, critical engagement, and creating a supportive learning environment for students.

Beyond the classroom, Dr Masud contributes to the academic life of the Law School at Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University. He leads on all aspects of the Law Department, assists with the organisation of conferences and international collaborations and academic events, participates in recruitment and interview panels, and supports student engagement through law fairs and other extracurricular activities.
