Dr. Maroun G. Kassab is an Assistant Professor of Architecture at the Department of Architecture and Design, Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University. An architect, scholar, and artist, his work bridges
architectural practice, cultural heritage, and critical theory.
He is the founder and principal of Cardo Architects, an interdisciplinary design and research practice established in 2008, and Cardo Consultants, dedicated to heritage documentation and conservation.
Dr. Kassab’s professional experience spans the Middle East, Europe, and the United States, including senior positions at New York Design Architects, Michels & Waldron Associates, and collaborations
with UNESCO. He was instrumental in the nomination of Oscar Niemeyer’s Tripoli International Fairgrounds, which was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2023, and co-authored the site’s
Conservation Management Plan funded by the Getty Foundation’s Keeping It Modern initiative.
His current research and teaching explore the intersections between phenomenology, critical theory, and architectural production, emphasizing architecture’s ethical, cultural, and existential dimensions.
