Dr. Maryam Abdullah is a physical education scholar specializing in physical activity promotion, health education, and student well-being. She holds a PhD in Physical Education from the University of Technology Malaysia and an MA in Physical Education and Sports Studies from Newman University, Birmingham. Her research focuses on physical activity behaviour, health promotion, and factors influencing students’ engagement in active lifestyles, and she has published widely in reputable international journals.

Dr. Abdullah contributes to curriculum development and integrates practical, activity-based learning to enhance students’ physical, emotional, and social development. She also organizes PMU’s Health and Wellness Fairs, promoting awareness on physical activity, nutrition, and disease prevention. Her prior experience as a fitness instructor in the UK strengthens her applied expertise in health coaching and exercise prescription.

Committed to advancing student wellness and evidence-based practice, Dr. Abdullah continues to contribute meaningfully to research, teaching, and community health promotion.

My research focuses on innovating and designing effective methods to enhance physical activity among university students. Specifically, I am passionate about devising sustainable approaches to promote physical activity within academic settings. I aim to develop strategies that are adaptable, user-friendly, and technology-supported, ensuring ease of implementation and learning. My research interests are:

  • Physical activity promotion
  • Health promotion
  • Students attitude towards physical education
  • Healthy behaviours
