Dr. Al-Asad is an Assistant Professor in the Electrical Engineering department at Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University (PMU). Dr. Al-Asad earned his PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, USA in 2009 in two areas of interest; Telecommunications and Biomedical Engineering. His PhD research is in the field of biomedical signal and image processing and reconstruction. After he earned his PhD he joined DeVry University-USA as a senior professor teaching in the biomedical, electrical and computer engineering technology majors.
Dr. Al-Asad has developed several algorithms and schemes for biomedical signal and image processing before reconstruction including despeckling schemes for front-end, mid-end and back-end of the medical ultrasound imaging system, also developed a hybrid channel assignment scheme for efficient spectrum utilization in cellular communication systems. His current research interests are in the general area of Biomedical Imaging, the general area of biomedical Signal and Image processing, Wireless communications and Spectrum utilization.
