Dr. Huson Joher Ali Ahmed is an Australian citizen, from Melbourne. He obtained his Ph.D (Finance) from Malaysian Graduate School of Management, UPM in 2000. A quality-oriented, self-directed and driven academic with 2+ decades of teaching and research experience in Finance. Lastly associated with Deakin Business School, Deakin University, Australia as Senior Lecturer – Finance.
His current research focus on empirical/applied corporate finance and investment, energy finance and housing studies. He has published more than 35 journal articles, majority of which are index with Scopus. His publications appear in Journal of Futures Markets (ABDC: Rank-A), Journal of International Financial Markets Institutions and Money(ABDC: Rank-A), Global Finance Journal (ABDC: Rank-A), Applied Economics(ABDC: Rank-A), Applied Energy(ABDC: Rank-A), Energy Policy(ABDC: Rank-A), Economic Modelling(ABDC: Rank-A), Journal of Policy Modelling(ABDC: Rank-A), Pacific-Basin Finance Journal(ABDC: Rank-A), North American Journal of Economics and Finance(ABDC: Rank-B*), Journal Asian Economics (ABDC: Rank-B) and Applied Economic Letters(ABDC: Rank-B) just to name a few. His papers have been widely cited with total citations of more than 1400.
Committed to teaching excellence at the graduate and undergraduate levels. He brings the real world into the classroom and provides students with the same the facilities used by the world’s leading banks, corporations, and government agencies to enhance their academic studies across a wide range of disciplines. On the professional leadership, he has served as an ad-hoc reviewer for some top journals including Journal of Banking and Finance (Rank-A*), Economic modelling (Rank-A), Energy economics (Rank-A*) just to name few. He attended and presented some top conferences including American Finance Association conference, Finance Down Under, by University of Melbourne.
