Dr. Ercan Bursal earned his PhD degree in Biochemistry from Ataturk University, Turkey, in 2009.
He conducted postdoctoral research at Texas Tech University, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, from 2016 to 2017.
He started his teaching career as a “Science Teacher”, serving in this role from 2000 to 2010. After receiving his Ph.D., he worked as an “Assist. Prof.” and “Assoc. Prof.” titles in 2010-2017 at Mus Alparslan University, Faculty of Science in Turkey. In 2017, he was promoted to “Full Professor” at the Faculty of Health, Mus Alparslan University.
Currently, he serves as a “Full Research Professor” at the College of Engineering, Prince Mohammad bin Fahd University.
Dr. Ercan Bursal has authored more than 70 articles in SCI-indexed journals on his research area with having more than 5400 citations and 35 h-index. He is the coauthor of 20 book chapters, as well. He supervised one Ph.D. and seven M.S. students.
The main topics of his studies are antioxidant activity, bioorganic compounds, medicinal plants, enzyme activity/inhibition, and biochemical parameters in biological samples. Also, his main specializations are UV-Spectrophotometry, HPLC, and LC-MS-MS.
He is a member of editorial boards of over 15 journals and frequently reviews for numerous international SCI journals.
Beyond being a researcher, he has extensive teaching experience in courses, such as General Chemistry, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and some Lab courses.
Recognized among the world’s top 2% of scientists in Chemistry from 2021 to 2024.
