He is a published author and an innovator in the field of smart machines, IoT and controls. He received the status of “Outstanding Researcher” from the U.S. government in 2012. He has more than 30 patents and patent applications in the field of automotive, refrigeration and smart machines.

He earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical engineering from Wayne State University, USA, in 2010. He earned his Master's degree from American University of Beirut in 2005. He received his Six Sigma green belt certification from Cummins in 2012.

Both his books “Virtual Reality for Matlab® and Simulink Users", Springer and “Practical Design and Application of Model Predictive Control”, Elsevier, are best-selling MathWorks books.

Dr. Nassim published his third book in 2020 "Development and Deployment of Digital Twins on the Cloud, Elsevier", Elsevier.
Before joining PMU, Dr. Nassim worked in Dover as an engineering manager leading an international team of controls and software engineers.
He currently finished his third book related to Internet of Things and related technology trends. It will be published by PMU press in 2021.

Systems and methods for driving intention prediction in vehicles, Patent number: 9366215, Abstract: Disclosed are methods, systems, and computer-readable mediums for predicting a driving intention of a driver of a vehicle. A sequence comprising a plurality of indicators is detected, where each indicator suggests intent to drive a vehicle. A separation time between each of the indicators of the sequence is determined. The sequence and determined separation times are compared to historical data, where the historical data comprises data related to previously stored separation times of the sequence. Based on the comparison, a confidence level that an engine of the vehicle will be started is determined. Based on the confidence level, a feature of the vehicle is activated.
