Dr. David Pumphrey is an American national, working as an Assistant Professor in the department of MIS in the College of Business at PMU, KSA. He received his B.S.B.A. from the University of Arkansas – Fayetteville, AR, USA in 1987, M.S. degree from Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia, USA in 1992, and his Ph.D. from the University of Mississippi, in Oxford, Mississippi, USA in 2014.
Prior to 2010, when he began his doctoral pursuits, Dr. Pumphrey (then Mr. Pumphrey) had an industry career in I.T. His I.T. roles at numerous companies included Software Developer, Database Administrator, Systems Analyst, Project Manager, People Manager, and I.T. Executive. In the classroom, Dr. Pumphrey integrates his experience in Oil & Gas and many, many industries into his course content, which helps to prepare his students for their careers in MIS and Data Analytics.
Dr. Pumphrey has several years of experience in teaching, research, and curriculum development at the graduate and undergraduate levels. He has taught in Management Information Systems (MIS) and Business Data Analytics at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. His MIS courses include Project Management, Systems Analysis and Design, Programming, Enterprise Systems and Database Administration. His has taught Spreadsheet Modeling, Programming for Data Analytics, Business Statistics/Analytics, and Advanced Analytics in Data Analytics. He has developed curriculum for an MBA concentration in Business Data Analytics as well as created both MIS and Business Data Analytics courses at the undergraduate level.
His research interests include integration of business data analytics across business disciplines, information systems security, assessing I.T. as a source for business data analytics professionals, online student engagement tools, and developing case studies in MIS and business data analytics.
Dr. Pumphrey plans to explore and learn about KSA in his free time.
