Tuan Pham received a Ph.D. degree in 1995 with a thesis on the application of fuzzy logic to numerical analysis of engineering problems from the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia. The work of his PhD thesis known as fuzzy finite element analysis contributed to establishing a new direction of research in computational science and engineering.

Dr. Pham is appointed as Senior Research Professor and Director of the Center for Artificial Intelligence at Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University, Al Khobar, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He was a Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Linköping University, Sweden, and held other previous positions as Professor and the Leader of the Aizu Research Cluster for Medical Engineering and Informatics, Head of the Medical Image Processing Laboratory at the University of Aizu, Japan; and the Bioinformatics Research Group Leader, the School of Engineering and Information Technology, the University of New South Wales, Australia. His teaching and research span across several disciplines of computer science and engineering.

He serves as Section Editor and Associate Editor of several international journals, conference chair, keynote speaker, and invited speaker. Dr. Pham has been internationally recognized by his peers as a highly prolific scientist, publishing extensively as the lead author on various topics in books, journals, and conference proceedings. Most recently Dr. Pham has originally introduced the concepts of fuzzy recurrence plots and networks for nonlinear data analysis and scalable deep learning of time series.  Dr. Pham has been selected as an Expert in Artificial Intelligence by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH) Network of Digital Health Experts Program (NoDEx).   .
